Mr. Brennan was born in Omaha, Nebraska and spent the majority of his youth in Virginia and Texas. In 1969, Mr. Brennan was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served for two years as a medical corpsman. Mr. Brennan served in the Republic of Vietnam during 1970, where, among other decorations, he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for Heroism in Combat.
Mr. Brennan is a local attorney with the law firm of Brennan & Waite, P.L.C. He graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1987 and has lived in the Vienna/Oakton area since that time. His law practice is dedicated to serving the needs of small and medium sized businesses, and includes civil litigation, debtor/creditor law, mergers and acquisitions, and general business law. Mr. Brennan's professional experience includes complex commercial litigation and bankruptcy law. Mr. Brennan practiced in a law partnership with Carol Waite from April, 1995 until her death in December, 2001.
Mr. Brennan has been active in the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce since 1996. He is co-chair of the Ethics Day Committee, a member of the Board of Directors and incoming Chair. He was named the Chamber’s Member of the Year for 2001-2002. In addition to active participation in the Chamber, Mr. Brennan is a member of the Leadership Fairfax class of 2008-2009. Mr. Brennan has also been an active member of the Vienna-Tysons Regional Chamber of Commerce. He first served on the Board of Directors as the Director of Government Affairs and continued in that post until 1998. From January, 1999 to June, 2000, Mr. Brennan served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Vienna Chamber. He has also been an active member in the Vienna Rotary Club Since 1995. He was President of the club for 2005-2006 and was the 2005-2006 Rotarian of the Year. Mr. Brennan was a founder of the Ethics Day Program at George C. Marshall High School in 2000 and the Ethics Day Program at James Madison High School in 2001. He remains active with those programs, which have been staged annually since their inception. In June, 2007, Mr. Brennan was named Citizen of the Year by the Vienna-Tysons Regional Chamber of Commerce for his work on the Ethics Day Programs.
