Technology
With regard to technology infrastructure, GRCC supports:
- The enforcement of Policies that encourage Open Access use of new and existing technology infrastructure at reasonable rates;
- Business-friendly policies that help coordinate and maximize efficiencies with regard to design, development and implementation of critical technology infrastructure, particularly in the areas of broadband availability, e-commerce, and telecommunications;
- Increased and more efficient coordination of the installation of new utility and telecommunications facilities by VDOT, particularly with planned road improvements;
- Coordinated development and implementation of technology and infrastructure, such as communications interoperability, to assist first responders in the event of a disaster, as well as the analysis and development of a comprehensive report on state and local readiness; and
- Continued support for the Center for Innovative Technology, with a particular emphasis on policies and measures that encourage economic development and commercialization of technology;
GRCC also supports policies and measures that help to safeguard businesses and consumers from external technology assaults and/or hacking, that can lead to the disruption and loss of technology access and information.
