Government Contracting Forum
Fall, 2010

In one efficient and effective investment you can achieve your goal of reaching the Dulles Business Corridor’s small business leaders who are active in the government contracting arena. This annual Government Contracting Forum’s mission is to bring together the private and public sectors, large and small, to develop long-term, mutually beneficial relationships.

A new federal administration, new agency appointments, new policies, new priorities and reduced budgets will make federal government contracting even more challenging in 2010. Both major political parties support expanded opportunities for small and minority owned businesses which will likely result in even greater pressure to reach into these communities.

With over 50,000 women and minority owned small businesses in Fairfax County, finding qualified small business partners can be a daunting task. Participation in this conference as a program sponsor will demonstrate your interest in reaching out to these companies, and your active involvement at the Forum will result in new connections and collaborative opportunities.

Why Reston?

Fairfax County, ranked first among all US counties value federal government contracts in which the Reston area plays a dominant role, is in the of performed locally. Local companies performed $14 billion worth of procurement contract work in fiscal 2006. In fact, this county receives more federal procurement dollars for work done locally than all but five entire states and one city – neighboring Washington, DC.

“Fairfax County is more than a government town, but its proximity to the federal government provides a fertile and profitable source of new business and contract opportunities for thousands of companies here,” said Dr. Gerald Gordon, President and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority. “Of course, it isn't just geographic proximity that generates success in Fairfax County. A consistent, pro-business environment, a creative, motivated workforce and a quality of life that attracts and retains the best companies are drivers behind this economic engine.”

This one day Forum will bring together the major players on all sides of the government contacting equation. If this is your market – or you want this to be your market – then this event is one you cannot afford to miss.

Two Extra Value-added Opportunities:

JOB FAIR
Are you constantly on the hunt for stellar new employees?
Take advantage of the Chamber's annual job fair held in conjunction with this Government Contracting Forum. With hundreds of small business owners and consultants attending this event, in addition to those from the general business community who will be drawn to the Job Fair, you have an opportunity to efficiently reach into the best and brightest in the Northern Virginia area. The job fair will be held in the morning from 7:00am to 11:30am.

LOAN FAIR
Small business owners and consultants are always looking for a banker who understands their unique needs. If you are interested in banking this market sector, and especially if you are familiar with the special needs of small Government Contractors, then you will want to be a part of this Forum. A separate area will be set up for our lending partners so they can reach out to these potential new clients. The loan fair will be held throughout the day.
