Nutrition is your key. Overeating, eating out too often, eating mostly processed foods, and eating a diet high in saturated fat (found in butter, meat, and dairy) can be hard on your heart and can lead to many problems like hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease. So take it easy on your heart and improve your quality of life by following the simple healthy patterns described below:
Cook ½ cup of oatmeal with 1 cup skim, low-fat, or almond milk
- 1/3 cup frozen mixed berries
- 1 tbsp slivered almonds
- 1 tbsp ground flax seed
- 2 tsp brown sugar
Enjoy your delicious bowl of oatmeal with its fiber, antioxidants, omega-3’s, and pinch of sweetness!
