“Awards for Chamber Excellence” Winners Announced; 2012-2013 Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Installed

Reston, Virginia – June 28, 2012 – On Thursday, June 28, the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce kicked off its 30th Anniversary year by hosting its Awards for Chamber Excellence (ACE) and Annual Meeting Luncheon featuring a keynote address by Paul Hewitt, Head Coach of George Mason University Men’s Basketball. At the event the Chamber installed its new officers and Board members and recognized those companies and individuals who demonstrated excellence as Chamber and community stewards during 2011-2012.

Outgoing Chairman, Tim Sargeant of Dominion, passed the gavel to Incoming Chairman, C. Michael Ferraro of TRAINING SOLUTIONS, Inc. Mr. Sargeant, led the Chamber through a successful year laying the foundation for the next 30 years with strong membership growth, education programs, networking opportunities and advocacy; especially on the issue of Rail to Loudoun. Mr. Sargeant noted “the Chamber reached new milestones regarding membership and member retention. The Taste of Reston and Oktoberfest Reston festivals were two of the most successful events in the Chamber’s history. In addition, the Chamber became a leading voice for the business community regarding the Rail to Loudoun issue. I can’t say enough about the energy and initiatives of the Chamber staff and the leadership and support of the Board that made FY 2011 – 2012 such a successful year.” Additionally, Jane Raymond of Reston Hospital Center was elected by the membership as the Chair-Elect for 2012-2013.

Delegate Ken Plum administered the oath of office to our incoming Board members, who included:

Each year, through the ACE Awards, the Chamber recognizes outstanding businesses, volunteers and committees that make the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce a successful place to do business.
