Tysons Corner, Va. | September 12, 2012 — Cherry Bekaert & Holland L.L.P. (CB&H), one of the nation’s largest accounting and consulting firms, is pleased to announce the addition of William J. Poad as Director of Indirect Taxes within the Firm’s State and Local Tax (SALT) Group.
In his new role at CB&H, Poad will assist companies with multistate operations in navigating the ever-changing sales and use tax regulatory environment. Poad is a specialist in multistate indirect taxation, helping clients with planning, compliance, structuring and protest proceedings. He also is intimately familiar with value-added tax (VAT), property valuation and excise tax issues.
"Bill brings a very complimentary skill set to our growing Specialty Tax practice,” said Jim Parker, CB&H’s Specialty Tax Leader. “He will guide our multistate clients through the interwoven requirements of collection, remittance, nexus and reporting in each of their operating areas."
Prior to joining CB&H, Poad served as a director in the SALT practice in two of the Big Four accounting firms. He also previously served as leader of indirect taxes at Alcoa for more than five years, responsible for that company’s sales and use tax, gross receipts tax, employment tax, excise tax, unclaimed property, real and personal property tax for operations across North America.
Poad earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Poad is a national resource on the topic of indirect taxation, speaking frequently to national tax conferences and symposia.
