Resourceful Women Council's Story Slam Event
*This event is in place of the council's normal meeting time.*
Join us virtually or in-person for a live storytelling event benefitting Western Fairfax Christian Ministries held at Bourbon Boulevard - Chantilly! The theme for this year's Story Slam is Words, Wine, and Resourcefulness! Complimentary hors d'oeuvres will be available to those attending in person; drinks can be purchased at the bar.
You may be wondering... What is a Story Slam?A story slam is a live storytelling event similar to a poetry slam or open mic night. It is a fun, low-pressure competition based on the art of storytelling. It puts a dual emphasis on content and performance, encouraging storytellers to focus on what they're saying and how they're saying it. It is an exercise in crafting stories within a set time limit and it's a great, fun social event.
During the event, all storytellers will be highlighted, as well as on GRCC's social media channels! Our finalists will share their three-to-five-minute stories LIVE at the event. Each of the featured 5-minute stories are judged on the following:- How well the story is told
- How well it is constructed
- How well the story explores, connects, and/or reveals some truth about the theme and how well it honors the time limit.
Please meet our storytelling finalists!
