    Position Summary

    In 2022, NSHF is celebrating its 20th anniversary and is focusing on the growth of its fundraising program to support the foundation’s mission and the expansion of NSHF’s work. In alignment with this projected fundraising growth, NSHF is seeking a Development Manager to help advance the organization’s fundraising efforts. Over the next several years, NSHF’s fundraising strategy includes:

     

    • Continuing to expand its annual giving donor base through a regular appeals, communications, and signature events calendar.
    • Growing corporate and industry support for the foundation.
    • Growing its major giving program.
    • Engaging the Board of Directors and Medical and Scientific Board, and growing the fundraising leadership potential of these groups.

    The Development Manager will partner with the Chief Executive Officer and collaborate with the Communications Manager to achieve annual fundraising goals.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Individual Giving

    • Lead the process of cultivation and solicitation for $5,000 and below gifts, including making asks where appropriate, and contribute with the CEO and others for gifts above $5,000.
    • Support the CEO and other team members with drafting fundraising correspondence, meeting preparation, and meeting follow up.
    • Partner with the CEO and others to ensure stewardship of current donors
    • Plan and execute annual fund efforts in coordination with Communications Manager’s communications calendar, including drafting solicitation and stewardship emails in digital tools like NXT and Mailchimp.
    • Prospect Management - build the pipeline of prospective donors through prospect research and qualification activities. Strategize and track next step strategies for individual donors in NXT/Raiser’s Edge.

     

    Signature Events

    • Coordinate the execution of in-person and virtual events with key donors and stakeholders, including managing our signature events such as the Gala and/or Race. Support the foundation’s participation at key spine health conferences across the country.

     

    Corporate Engagement

    • Support CEO in identifying and qualifying new corporate partners.
    • Manage corporate relationships to ensure proper execution of engagement opportunities, including proposal drafting and submissions.
    • Support CEO in cultivation and stewardship of corporate relationships.

     

    Board Engagement

    • Support the CEO in managing and stewarding Board of Directors and Medical & Scientific Board relationships, including regular communications plans and board meeting coordination.
    • Assist NSHF Board and CEO to qualify individual and institutional prospects through peer screening.

     

    Operations/Administrative

    • Manage the execution of NSHF’s fundraising strategy and annual fundraising plans.
    • Organize and lead regular development team check-ins and meetings.
    • Generate relevant development dashboards and materials to provide to the CEO and Board to track progress and next steps.
    • Enter gifts into the database and ensure accurate and timely acknowledgement to NSHF donors.

     

    Qualifications

    • 5+ years’ experience supporting fundraising in a nonprofit setting. Experience with healthcare fundraising preferred.
    • Comfort in a multifaceted role that requires both frontline fundraising and administration/management skills.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Familiar with using Microsoft Office in a professional setting
    • Frontline fundraising experience required.
    • Experience and familiarity with donor databases required. Experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred.
