About our Speakers:Alex IamsExecutive Vice President @Fairfax County Economic Development AuthorityAlex Iams is the Executive Vice President at the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority, where he leads the Business Investment, Market Intelligence, Communications and Operations teams. He has spent the last 17 years working in economic development, including 13 years with Arlington County. His work in Arlington included the recruitments of the Lidl North American Headquarters and Amazon HQ2. On the real estate development side, Iams worked on the land use and infrastructure finance plans for the Crystal City and Columbia Pike areas. His career includes positions at the Council of Development Finance Agencies as Director of Research, and the International Economic Development Council as a Research Associate. Iams has a master?s degree in City and Regional Planning from the Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington.Stephen MoretPresident & CEO @Virginia Economic Development PartnershipBefore joining VEDP in January 2017, Moret served as chief executive of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber and Louisiana Dept. of Economic Development, as well as the LSU Foundation and its real-estate development arm. At VEDP, he has collaborated with state, regional, and local partners to craft an ambitious vision focused on transformational goals, including accelerating employment growth; enabling every region to grow; and moving back to the top of national business climate rankings.
